The new Alpha Coach Evolve app eliminates all the guesswork and helps me stay on track. The weekly adjustments are powerful, and something I would usually pay a coach to do, but this app is free!

Food logging on Alpha Coach has been an eye-opener for me. I have always had the habit of overeating my dinner meals. The calorie density targets really help me avoid this by choosing better options.

I never wanted my diet to be another stress factor. The beauty of the app is its simplicity. It un-complicates dieting because they don’t tell me “what to eat”, but allow me to eat my preferred foods. The food color-coding helps me be more aware of what I am eating and that’s all I needed.

Why is food logging important?

Most people fail to reach their weight loss or weight gain goals because they lack visibility into how much they are actually eating. Without tracking, it becomes difficult to gauge portion sizes or understand the calorie density of meals. Food logging helps build awareness of both quantity and quality of food, making it easier to stay on track. This becomes especially important when working towards a timeline-based goal where consistency matters.

Food color coding is a way to classify foods based on their calorie density, not on whether they are good or bad. Labelling foods as good or bad can create confusion and guilt, and often sabotages long-term results. Instead, color coding helps you understand how calorie-dense a food item is, which can guide better decision-making throughout the day. Foods with high calorie density are marked as red, moderate as yellow, and low as blue. This system is useful for managing hunger, satiety, and energy balance. It allows all foods to fit into your plan while giving you a logical way to moderate their intake, especially when working on fat loss or body composition goals.

The primary goal of exercise in a fat loss phase is to stay active and preserve lean muscle mass. Strength or resistance training is ideal for this, as it stimulates muscle and improves metabolic efficiency. When muscle is preserved or built during fat loss, the body appears more toned and defined. In addition to strength training, maintaining a high level of daily movement is important. Activities like walking, taking the stairs, or simply moving more during the day help increase daily energy expenditure, which supports fat loss efforts.

Calorie and macronutrient goals are calculated based on multiple factors such as your gender, current body weight, activity level, body composition, training routine, and eating habits. These inputs help determine your energy requirements and appropriate macronutrient distribution. The macro split is personalized not just for results but also for long-term sustainability, ensuring that you get enough energy, sufficient protein for muscle support, and overall nutritional balance.

The Alpha Score is a process-driven metric that reflects how closely your daily actions align with your goals. It is not a gimmick or arbitrary number, but a straightforward score based on specific behaviors. You are scored out of 100 each day across five areas: adherence to your calorie goal, your protein intake, whether you stayed within your red food target, whether you stayed within your sugar limit, and how close you came to your step count goal. The closer you are to hitting these targets, the higher your score. A daily score above 75, when maintained consistently, indicates that you are on track to reach your fitness goals.
